Farewell to a Community Cornerstone: Coastline Surf Shop

For 35 years, Mike Redpath and Coastline Surf Shop have been cornerstones of the Victoria surf community and a steadfast supporter of Surfrider Foundation Canada’s South Vancouver Island Chapter. From hosting countless chapter meetings and events, to supporting campaigns like Hold On To Your Butt, to playing a key role in projects like the Jordan River surf etiquette sign, Mike has always gone above and beyond to protect and celebrate the coast. He has participated in remote beach cleanups - (see/hear Mike in action during our 2013 Rugged Point Cleanup 3:30-4:34), coordinated community film nights, made Coastline a Water Friendly Business, and so much more.

On September 20, 2025, Coastline will close its downtown Victoria storefront and transition to an online-only shop. While their gear will still be available online, the closure marks the end of a physical community hub that has meant so much to so many of us.

In the lead-up to the closure, Coastline is holding a liquidation sale in-store until September 20. They will also be collecting old wetsuits for disposal through Surfrider's ReSurf program until the shop doors close.

Please join us in celebrating Coastline’s incredible legacy of community and coastal stewardship at their store until September 20. Their impact will continue to ripple through the waves and hearts of our community for years to come.
