We are always looking for volunteers from all walks of life for various volunteer roles.
We are always looking for passionate individuals to join us in protecting our oceans, waves, and beaches!
As a Surfrider Foundation South Vancouver Island volunteer, you will be collaborating with an amazing crew of volunteers in your community working to create a positive impact.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
Chair
The Chairperson is responsible for co-leading the chapter alongside our Executive Committee, making high-level strategy decisions, supporting the chapter’s direction and running monthly meetings.
Beach Cleanup Leads Team
The Beach Cleanup Leads lead the chapter’s beach cleanups, including working with support volunteers. coordinating event logistics, facilitating the events on-site, working with collaborators and partners and transporting gear. Please note a license and car is required for this team.
campaign volunteers
Support the chapter’s campaigns and advocacy work, which is focused on addressing upstream sources of plastic and water pollution in Greater Victoria! Through campaigns, you’ll work to secure new policies and strengthen existing policies.
Photography and Graphic Design Volunteers
The Graphic Design and Photography Volunteers are responsible for assisting in implementing the chapter’s external communication’s plan. These volunteers will utilize resources to create graphics and take photos and videos at our events to post on various social media sites, showcase to the public or government, and capture memories for volunteers.
Fundraising & Membership Support
The Fundraising support team, helps with the financial wellbeing of the chapter, without funding, it is impossible for a chapter to do the work it was created for. You will help with gathering donation items, communicate our membership opportunities, source and apply for grants alongside Surfrider Canada, and provide engaging activities for members of the community to donate to the chapter.
Events Team Members
An Events Lead/Team Member will help assist in supporting, organizing, and leading fun, purposeful, and/or educational public events to engage the South Vancouver Island community. These volunteers can work on the behind the scenes details and/or be the event lead day.
GENERAL VOLUNTEERS
We’re always looking for content creators (bloggers, photographers, graphic designers, for example), event planners, environmental experts, youth workers, campaigners and others (as well as all of the valuable volunteers who just want to come out to a beach clean and contribute to protecting what we love!).
